Default new engine time!

Hi everyone,

should soon have new long engine going in my my97 wrx wagon as my old one blew up last week. Been thinking though, is there anything that i should look into replacing while this work is being carried out?

Engine mounts? new oil lines i guess as old ones might have bits of engine in them... Been thinking about the clutch too, it was fine before but worth putting a new one in while the engine is out? In the coming months will more then likely find myself going for 5speed-hassling power and torque though and in the immediate future there will be a lot of gentle running in driving.

Look forward to your suggestions!

Ash

What sort of power are you aiming for? That will affect what you need to change.

Well maybe mid 400s eventually, so tranny and that will more then likely come out at some point and 6 speed in. which is why i am uming and arhing over a new (5 speed) clutch. For the time being the plan would be to run the engine in on the vf23 and 440s etc from my old engine and see how the cams get on with a relatively small blower. Just wondering if there are any bits and pieces i have maybe over looked that would be good to change out specifically while the car is engineless
