Hi Folks
Car is a newage (bug wagon).
Took off my IC to begin looking for an exhaust leak around the turbo.
In the picture below, I noticed the rubber air hose from this valve / switch (marked 'A') is not connected. The rubber pipe was pushed under the inlet manifold (direction 'B') but not attached to anything

There is a mess of rubber and metal pipes under that area, but I can't find an empty stub to fit the pipe back on to
Here is the valve in close-up:

If anybody knows what it is / what it does / but most importantly - where it connects ! That'd be appreciated
Phil

If the hose should be routed where I found it (arrowed 'B' in the first photo) then strangely the 90 degree bend at the end of the hose seems to point down towards the engine rather than up to the manifold
I've been taking photos under there where I can't get my eye to see, and searching everywhere within reach of the hose (incase where I found it routed was wrong) but still no idea of where the little bugger goes
Mine went in-between the idle control valve and throttle body and had that same 90 degree bend but obviously we are talking different phase cars. Pity mine isn't here as I would of taken photos of it.

From what you said - I've been able to identify the part ('A') as: Tumble generator valve (TGV) actuator.
Found it in the workshop manual. Manual doesn't bother showing it with the rubber hose, so I'm sure you're right about venting to atmosphere (and that WAS how I found it).
Many thanks Mick and jdc1 for the help
