Default Classic Headlight adjuster

The passenger headlight on MY99 impreza seems to be pointing a little high and MOT coming up soon!

When I try to adjust the level using the adjustment switch on the dash the passenger headlight only moves very slightly as if it is stuck (driver side light is adjusting fine)

Anyone know what could be wrong? It seems that the motor is still working because the light is trying to move.

Is it possible to dissasemble the headlight/motor assembly? Going to have a look tomorrow but a heads up on what to look out for would be helpful.

Headlight adjuster could be set on minimum already?

You CAN adjust them manually, btw, do that and see what happens?

There is a long bolt with an M6 head on it, sticking up from each motor.

If it's not the above, remove electrics, remove motor, djust to about central, start again.

Thanks for the reply alcazar.

I did a search and found another thread saying that the ball joint from the adjustment motor had become dislodged from the headlight assy, so will take a look at that to.

Let you know what i find tomorrow.

Winding the adjuster fully in should push it back in place. I use a small electric srewdriver or a drill. Its quicker.

Eventually got round to having a look at my headlight today.

Messsed around with the adjuster screw, but this did not make any difference.

In order to see what was wrong, I removed the headlight assy from the car, I then removed the motor from the rear of the light assy.

I found that the ball on the end of the motor push rod had become dislodged from a small plastic clip on the reflector inside the light assy. (the reflector pivots within the headlight assy to adjustment the beam)

When i tryed to fit the motor back on it still would not clip into the reflector assy, i had to remove the headlight bulb so that i could put my finger inside and hold the reflector in place while i pushed the motor back into place so that the ball snapped into the clip.

PS I refitted the light assy to the car, but when i pushed the connector onto the back of the bulb the reflector once again became disconnected from the motor!
This time i just removed the bulb and pulled the reflector backwards until it clipped back onto the motor pushrod.
Refitted the bulb then gently pushed the connector back.

Anyhow sorted now so thanks for the help.
