i understand the idea and see why it makes sense to collect the particles/oil as it passes through.....better efficiency, better temps for the intercooler, less rubbish out of the exhaust....

some questions
i've read that scoobies need 3 ports? -i dont think i understand why....can anyone explain? does that make a difference? ive also seen/read that lots of people run a 2port system......does it make a difference then?
presumably mesh is the way to go to collect most 'rubbish' from the gases?
does a drain to sump make a difference??
if its collecting lots of rubbish in the tank and you drain to sump, doesn't it all just collect there then??
presumably it then get filtered by the usual oil filter?
should you add an additional filter between the drain-to-sump and the sump as well then?

Most join the rocker cover breathers together with a T piece and route to one port & route the crank case breather to the other port. For a race car running flat out all the time return to sump makes sense,but on a road car doing lots of cold starts it can cause excessive moisture in the oil.

 

did mine yesterday.2 port catch can.have tee-d the crankcse and block breathers and blocked off the pcv and the car drives so much smoother.the amount of oil inside the intercooler was mad when cleaning everything out.cheap and worthwhile mod and from what i have been told helps with the octaine rating of your fuel.

 

The reason a subaru needs a 3 port is it has two breathers one one each rocker cover and a crank case breather.

The one on eBay is a bargain! The ones I've seen a bit more expensive.
Is the volume important to its function?
Is there an indication of how 'baffled' something is or it's efficiency....does it make a difference for a road car? Running 450/420 ish.

 

i just put some scotch brite in the bottom to catch the oil and stop it coming out of the breather

 

were is the crank case breather, isit the one next to the turbo on the right hand side just behind the inlet?
