Default CLUTCH PEDAL SANK

Can anyone shed some light on an issue i've had recently. Did an all round trip of about 80 miles last week, got back home and parked the car up.
Two hours later jumped back in to pop out and got just round the corner and my clutch pedal sank to half its level, headed back for home and got just to my drive and it started to refuse to go into gear. parked up called my mechanic and he said slave cylinder or master, told him to organise the parts and left it parked up. Started it today checked the clutch pedal and its back to its normal position, normal feel and engaging all gears with no issue's. HELP LOL ??

Had it been raining or wet that day? I had that happen to me. Turned out water had splashed into gearbox bell housing and stuck the clutch on. Couldn't select any gears and had no clutch. Think I had the rubber cap missing of the top by throttle which didn't help. Water was coming through scoop and down into there

Was a dry day, so no water about, not even on the road surface.
Thanks for sharing tho.

I also suspected slave cylinder and after examining it i had lost no fluid in the bottle and no signs of any leaking rubbers < and now after leaving the car for a week or so its fine.

Actually starting to think towards it being a fluid issue, possibly overheating.

Does anyone know if that is possible?

Same (or similar) fluid to the braking system, unless very old I doubt it would've overheated. Slight vacuum leak possibly? Could also be the small pipe between the master and slave....

There is a connecting pipe between the two??
i always thought they acted independently.
I shall look into that next then.

Cheers all for your suggestions and advice.

I while back my clutch dropped to the floor and there is a spring somewhere near the back of the block (need someone on here with more knowledge than me to be more specific). This spring caused the issue and was replaced at much lower cost than cylinders etc...
