Default bugeye bonnet catch not locking

noticed this recently, my bonnet sometimes doesnt shut and lock properly. Are there any known issues? the mechanism seems ok and the handle under the dash returns to its neutral position so isnt sticking... Very strange.

yes, this happened to my my02 bugeye lots of times. On the latch there is a metal hook type thing, that goes over the U that is attached to the bonnet. This metal hook (like a plate) thing is pulled into place by a spring if I remember correctly. I just had to wd40/grease the whole lot and work it all about by hand (or using a screw driver to poke that metal hook) to free it all up.

Had a little problem with my bonnet when i tried to close it it wouldn't shut right, and was lifting on the passenger side, after swapping the bonnet still the same. What had happened who ever removed the engine at some time had hit the air con rad causing it to push the middle out ward a tiny bit, put a old seat belt around the post and a crow bar on the cross member pushed in wards. fit like a glove now not sure if this is your prob just thought ide say Just in case.
