How to get closer to the 400hp mark?
HELLO ALL, AS ABOVE I HAVE A TYPE RA IMPREZA, CURRENTLY RUNNING 341BHP, BUT IM LOOKING TO SEE IT RUNNING NEARER THE 400MARK IF POSSIBLE AS I WANT THAT LITTLE BIT MORE. IM CURRENTLY RUNNING AN APS TOP MOUNT INTERCOOLER, 550CC INJECTORS, 3" EXHAUST WITH DECAT, WALBRO PUMP, LABFUEL FPR, RCM AIRFILTER, MAHLE PISTONS WITH 0.50 OVERSIZE, UPGRADED CONRODS CANT REMEMBER WHAT BRAND, ALL NEW BEARINGS ETC AND A IHI VF28 TURBOCHARGER. IT HAS BEEN REMAPPED ON STANDARD ECU BY ANDY FORREST AND ACHEIVED 341/280 ON POWERSTATION ROLLING ROAD.
ANY HELP OR ADVISE WILL BE APPRECIATED.

FMIC, bigger injectors (650+), bigger turbo, standalone ECU (ideally), fuel pump (possibly). Your transmission will be at the limit, a new clutch will definitely be needed. In terms of cost between 4-6k.
Unless you potter around you will definitely need a 6 speed & I think that will take you over the 6k Mark with all the other mods. 400 is not cheap you may as well stay at 350 or go all out for 500.
youre not far off spec wise, similar to me,i`m running an 18g, gearbox still holding up , i`m having a map tweak and then rred to see what ive got. the car feels like its easily 400hp, everyone reckons it is who comes in it but as you know lightness and short ratio box can trick you.
so if you want to feel like youve got 400hp get an 18g, if you want a genuine 400hp get an md321h but prepared for a bang from the box.
how come youre running an aps top mount, i thought the sti8/9 top mounts were proven to be the best, i know aps is usuall quality stuff but some guy did some charge temp tests on the top mounts and the sti one was by far the best

To get a proper 400bhp reliable classic, you will need to throw over 10k at the car, your gearbox will break, the engine will break (though I see you have upgraded
), the clutch/brakes etc wont be good enough, the cost of a good turbo etc, its not a cheap option, you are best sticking to the power levels you have now, or selling and buying a new age or a classic that has already had all the work done.
