Default rear wheel drive impreza?

hello,

before anyone posts "get a rear wheel drive car" etc etc lol

i am just wondering this..

i am not a technical person when it comes to the mechanics and transmissions of cars so if this seems wrong or stupid, please excuse me.

i know the subaru impreza has a gearbox then a propshaft?, which goes to the rear diff?, but would it be possible to get a gearbox or possibly the original gearbox modified so it transfers 100% of the power to the rear diff and cuts out the power to the front or doesnt even have any shafts on the front going through the box or such? thus making it rear wheel?

or if not, can someone explain to me how and what would need to be done to make the car 100% rear wheel driven? and no im not after a rear wheel drive car, im not trying to go sideways haha this is purely out of interest..

Many thanks, Jamie.

Trouble is, when you do this you weaken the parts left. Someone on here did it and had to upgrade lots of broken bits after!

Will need to do more and strengthen LOTS of other parts. Use the search facility on here and search rear wheel drive impreza.
