Default Alarm problems!

hi all

after own'ing my scooby for over a month now, i found i got abit of alarm problem,

when i park near a police station etc, i cant use my key fob to lock or unlock the car, its happend twice now (once outside a police station and again out side the local taxi office)

any one else the same problem? the rac told me its the radio's they use which are stopping my fob from talking back to the car (i thought it was a mad man at 1st when he told me this!)

any help be great as its not fun being locked out your own car in the rain

Happens quite a bit, or at least there have been a few threads about the same thing with people reporting issues near police stations etc.

Could be the radio signal isn't very powerful in your fob, try changing the batteries and see if it's any better with a new set.

Yep, common, as mentioned. Not a problem if you know your PIN, and have a functional key. Which I imagine you do, as you can start the car.
The later models had a shield fitted, either from MY99 or MY00, to help with this.

Yep interference from their radio's, stick the fob under your chin and press the button this uses your body as a booster areial and you should be able to use it.

i dont know the pin to the car and also my key dont work in the doors i got a new lock set to fit onto the car over xmas which should get me into the car with the right key.

for the time being tho, i keep away from places which got radio signas lol

Big radio/TV masts, avoid too i.e. park somewhere else.

Same goes for mobile phone relay masts (probably).

Defo try the 'human amplifier' trick, before giving up (should it happen again.)

Yes common problem on 99/00 modles
I don't use my alarm in my office car park as there is a train station transmitter and orange mobile mast next door and it freezes the alarm with the indicators on
Metro centre at Newcastle and Blackpool are a nightmare too
