2L JDM hawkeye spark plug removal
Hi all,
Car is a Hawkeye JDM STI 2.0l, any tips or tricks and things to look out for when changing plugs.
I have ordered the NGK PFR7B plugs, does anyone know what the correct gap is for the 2006 Hawkeye JDM wrx sti (2.0L engine , NOT 2.5L)
Cheers

Remove the air box, remove windscreen washer bottle. Remove the battery if it's the first time you've done it - next time you'll find you can do it without removing the battery.
Remove coil packs - one bolt per.
Main "trick" is to find the right combination of short extensions and ratchet handle to get in there. I find my Halfrauds 3/8" drive set with a short extension fits easily.
Takes about 15 minutes once you get used to it

Plugs done today, seems to have sorted the miss out fine.
As said Airfeed off, airbox out, very easy on that side.
Pass side, my washer bottle is down near the headlight so that stayed in situ, managed the rear plug with minimal swearing and a combi of different sockets etc and the front plug unless working from below or having magic sockets the battery had to come out, gave me much more room to work.
all in all very easy if a little tight
all my new plugs were checked and they all came gapped at 0.7mm,
was quite interesting when i tried ordering the plugs from KAP Subaru in Folkestone, Kent, the parts guy had never heard of an Impreza STI before............. needless to say i phoned powerstation at 4pm and they had them on my doorstep for the following morning
Job done, cheers all
