Default (goddamn) turbo timer/sigma m30 not arming!!

let me start by saying i didn't buy it, it was on the car when i got it and since i have it, i may as well use it, or try to use it! i think its a old HKS jobbie, it looks real basic, erm, has on/off, increase and decrease duration and another random button which i'm not sure i know what it does.

anyhow, when i have it on, take the key out, get out and close the door, the alarm doesn't arm when pushing the keyfob. i have to wait till it's cut the engine and then i can arm. well thats annoying and pointless, found something that the sigma m30 can do, "auto-arm" as a potential way around the problem:
Auto Arm
This feature is turned off at installation, but can be turned on by your SUBARU dealer.
Auto Arm will automatically arm the security system if the vehicle is accidentally left
unarmed. The security system will automatically arm a pre-set time (dependent on
programming e.g. 60 seconds) after the ignition has been switched off, the vehicle
vacated, and the last door, boot or bonnet has been closed. If a door, boot or bonnet
remains open, or is opened during the programmed time, the security system will not arm
until that door, boot or bonnet is closed. As a warning that Auto-Arm is going to
automatically arm the alarm, the siren bleeps twice when you open the door to exit the
vehicle.
Note:
If the Door Open Warning Bleeps have been programmed to off there will be no
warning bleeps to advise you that this feature is active.
..now does that mean i can leave the timer on, get out, lock the door manually with the key then let the auto-arm, arm the system once the turbo timer has run out and then the auto-arm timer has elapsed?

i'm not even sure if the auto-arm is active on my car (not dared to walk away from it without arming, and as a new owner i'm always double-checking the doors don't open even after arming! ) but would that mean if i set it to auto-arm after 10 seconds, would it activate if i'm still in the car or does it need the door to open then close before the 10 second count starts?

also am i right in thinking there should be no reason not to have "auto re-arm" set to something short like 15 seconds?
Auto Re-arm
This feature is turned on at installation, but can be turned off by your SUBARU dealer.
Auto Re-arm will automatically re-arm and double-lock a pre-set time of 60 seconds
(dependent on programming), from the system being disarmed by the radio transmitter,
provided that no door, bonnet or boot has been opened during that time. This
prevents the vehicle being vulnerable if the radio transmitter button is pressed by mistake
perhaps from inside your house while your car is parked close by in the driveway or
street, or if children press the radio transmitter button in play! This feature provides extra
security with no inconvenience.

Sounds like basic model which means you'll have to wait for it to finish.

You need an alarm with built in turbo timer to use it so you can arm it whilst running.

The problem you will have with auto arm is that the ignition needs to be off before you open the door for it to arm. With the turbo timer running, the ignition is effectively still on, even though you have taken the key out.
So if you get out while the timer is still running, the auto arm won't arm itself even after the engine cuts out. Not unless you waited for the engine to stop then open and close the door...... Which kind of defeats the object.

Set your turbo timer for less time than your auto arm, be VERY wary of letting auto arm lock your keys in the car at other times

Personally i just drive the last bit of my journey off boost, or sit in my car for 10-20 seconds with it still idling while i faff about getting my **** together before i get out lol
