Default After market water gauge on newage sti

Hello, wondering if anyone has fitted a water temperature gauge to there newage, and if so where did you put your sensor?
I know on the classics they had two sensors on the crossover manifold, 1 for the ecu and one for the gauges.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers Ian.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have two choices:

Use the part shown above........and TBH they aren't that bad.
Place new sender in the tappings for the OE water temperature sender, do without OE gauge.

I tried the second, hated seeing that gauge constantly on zero, so now have the first option.

Incidentally: IF you DO use one of those parts, the OE sender goes in it, the accurate sender goes in the block if it fits

When you did this did you simply do away with the oe sender? If so what did you do so the ecu could monitor the engine temp?
Cheers Ian.

Ian there are TWO water temperature senders, side by side, one has TWO wires and is used by the ecu, the other has only one, (return through the block), and is the OE water temp gauge feed.

I didn't disturb the one for the ecu.

How about something like a second hand SECS monitor or similar that plugs into the OBD II port ?

Hi Alcazar that is how it was on my 98 classic but this is a newage and only has one sender on the crossover.
To be honest I think the easiest solution will be to drill and tap the crossover for my sender.
Cheers Ian.

OK, sdo what does that ONE sender DO? Are you certain it's that one for the ecu, and that they haven't put the ecu one elsewhere, leaving that one for the gauge sender?

It is a big sender like the ecu sender on my 98, I'm assuming this is the only one on the engine, can't find any more. Have had a look on my wiring diagrams and it suggests that there is only one :-(

Odd.

Then I wouldn't disturb it, I'd use that bit that goes in the hose.

It's not difficult to do, and doesn't leak.

Yeah that's what I thought. Oh well will use one of those hose adaptors or drill and tap.
Alcazar, out of interest is your car a newage or classic?
Thanks Ian.
