Default Impreza MPG Turbo Hatch 1998

Hi, I'm a bit worried about my fuel consumption. I drove 170 miles, 140 of this was on the motorway at 70 mph, the rest around town but mostly driving gently. I worked it out to be an average of 27 mpg, is this normal? I have heard some people saying it should be doing 35 mpg at 70 mph? Thanks

You shouldn't own a scooby or any performance car if you are worried about fuel consumption or insurance costs mate!

Its not the cost, I just want to make sure it's running properly. If that consumption is normal then that's fine. I must say it's dosnt feel as smooth since I changed the oil. I put some comma 10/40 in it, maybe I should put something better in it.

1. No such thing as a hatch was built in 1998.
2. You got good mpg for the car and your driving roads.
Anyone who gets over 30mpg has done brilliantly, but really needs to be driving a Rover 75 or a Volvo
