New short shift doesn't fit - any ideas?

Hi guys,
I bought a short shifter from Bren at apex performance and it was only today that I had chance to fit it. I fitted it but the gear change linkage rod hits the body work. I removed the plate and was ready to cut the section out as I knew they would hit but its hitting the actual car body. It wouldnt even into gear properly so had to remove it and refit the stock one.
Has anyone had this before and what was the solution? Its a 2002 bugeye.
Are there any other short shifters that I could get that someone has definitely managed to fit properly?

Got a perrin short shifter on my bugeye. Mines a six speed but they do a five aswell.

I've decided to go for a CDF one now, but need to know if it'll fit?
On the one that I got from Bren, it had two lengths of spacers so it was useable on the ones that had both the narrower and wider linkage connections. Does that make sense?
Any one got any ideas if you could let me know asap, plus I've got this Perrin one for sale if any one wants it?

No mate, mines just a standard stick. The perrinn adaptor fits over the OEM stick no problem its when you then have to remove the bushings and little tube thingy from the stock lever and transfer them (as shown in those instruction) its way too wide and won't fit. Even without the blue bushings, its still too wide.
If possible can someone measure the width (the way the bolt goes through) on their CDF shifter so I can see if it'll fit.

Can someone quickly measure the pivot point on their CDF one, the direction the M8 bolt goes through, it'll only take 5 mins if someone could, if you're not sure which part I mean then I can take a picture of my stock shifter if that'll help.

Thread resurrection but I had this same issue on my 04 Forester XT. Perrin 5 speed adapter was too wide.

Tell me about it. I've either had to modify every CDF item I've purchased to date, modify the car to make them fit or send them back multiple times for rectifying or replacing. Feels like I'm doing the development work for Chris sometimes.
Once my CDF quick shift was fitted and I'd trimmed the car to get full movement it worked very well indeed. However, to stop myself getting back ache (as the lever was actually too short when installed) I had to make a bespoke turned thread adaptor to lengthen the lever back to near standard height. Once fitted it was much better and I enjoyed driving it.
I would also note that the mounting bolt was too small diameter for the bush fitted to the lever. Wasn't right.
All in all you shouldn't have to re-engineer all these parts to get them to fit and work right. IMO CDF just haven't spent enough time designing the parts. Fair enough they must have some nice CNC mills at their place, but IMO not enough time spent engineering the products before selling them.
Don't get me started on the other CDF problems I had.
