Default 280- 300 ish bhp what engine please fellas

Hi I am looking to replace my 1992 2 liter legacy turbo engine wich is currently fitted in my 1976 VW beetle.
I am thinking of 2.5 ltr or 2 ltr STI jdm etc and looking to get 270-300 reliable bhp what engines would you recomend 2002 ish years.I have a few ideas I would just apreciate some input from scooby bods rather than the vw beetle conversion scene.I would appreciate all recomendations inc stock engines bhp figures or engines with mods and any ideas on costs and recomendations for people/engine builders to buy from. I know its a lot to ask but i am a bit of a novice on these engines and the research I have done has left me a bit confused and overwelmed so all help would be well recieved.Ta in advance

a 2 litre jdm sti or 2.5 with the smallest of mods will make that power yes, exhaust, filter and remap will probably get you 330 bhp for small costs aswell

well if your looking to obtain a second hand engine i would probably say around the £1000 mark? maybe more or less i am not entirely sure, maybe better to obtain one out a car being broke so it can be beard running beforehand.

remap on standard ecu - £300 give or take
exhaust - £2-300
Panel filter - £20?

dont quote me on them figures but i would say around that mark, obviously you will have labour costs in fitting an engine and ancillaries.

you also need to consider the brakes etc if your upping the power from previous
