What year car?
I didn't fit them on mine. Newer cars may need them though, but, mines only mounted off the bumper bar and has been for a few years now.

Same year, as I said mine's just been mounted to the bumper bar since I fitted it with no issues.
IIRC the lower supports were only a couple of bits of ally bar.
