Default uprated fuel pumps??

ok i read a lot of threads on here about walbro and the like, what benefits are to be gained in respect of power with a different fuel pump anyway? i mean unless u have new injectors? and an ecu remap isnt that getting on for 700 quid??? or will a new pump add an extra 20 bhp without these other mods been done.

A new pump won't do anything with an existing map, unless the engine is struggling to get enough fuel to do what the map tells it. The advantage with an uprated pump is that it allows a mapper to demand more fuel than the standard pump supplies, which in turn allows more power. The standard pump is fine up to 300 or so bhp, but after that it struggles to supply enough fuel consistently

As said above, and the fact that some people sneak more power from an old failing pump, which if goes un-noticed can lead to serious engine damage. Also some early PPP's were alegedly produced with an uprated FP, its since been proved that isnt always the case ;( The standard pump will pump XYZ of fuel and return the unwanted, a 255LPH will see claims of enough fuel to assist 550bhp, but im yet to see one post of someone running such power with anything under a 340LPH and usually with additional supporting fuel pump set up. A Walbro 255 or HRC will be fine for up to 400+ imho. Rob
