Default Oil Choice

I have got a 2003 sti with PPP, its probably going to be seeing a few track days and the such, and I am just wondering about oil choice

I am being recommended a semi-synthetic Valvoline race oil 10 – 60

I was thinking this needed a fully synthetic 5w -30 (such as Castrol edge, which I have used in my Audi’s previously)

Any thoughts, is the Valvoline a good choice, or should I go fully synthetic
