Default 2.5 Power

Wondering if anyone has a similar spec to my car and just to compare power and torque figures.

Fully Forged EJ257
VF35 Turbo (passing a small amount of oil since remap)
Version 4 sti heads
740cc Injectors
Cat is still fitted
Cat back exhaust 3"
Standard headers and up-pipe
1.2bar boost for the moment (due to compressor side oil seal)
Autronic SMC plug and play

286hp
301lb/ft torque

Car drives excellent despite figures

Have been told to replace turbo when I can and decat it to get the engine breathing better. Opinions ?

Injectors are serious overkill, 550cc or 650cc would suffice, are you running standard internals and is it an STI engine?

Blimey with a fully forged 257 i would have though nearer 400 would be nice. Definatly the turbo and cat thats holding it back. The vf 35 will make 330 ish on a 2.0 ltr, But i see your boost has been capped pretty low which is why the figuires are low. I would imagine it spools up pretty well?

Not sure you're getting the best from a forged 2.5 with those ancilleries!

Mine was 405/380 on APS SR40 now 440/420 on MD321x.

Other key specs:
650 injectors
3' Milltek exhaust (with sports Cat in centre section)
MAF less K & N air filter
Hybrid FMIC
STi 8 AVCS heads
Harvey ported headers & Up Pipe (Up Pipe is for the sr40 not current turbo).

I had 390 From my 2.0!

As in the first post the ebgine is fully forged, I went for 740's to give scope for larger turbo in the future

You will be running 95 RON fuel I assume. This will reduce power available and you are running very low boost for a forged engine. Typically a VF35 will run 1.4 or 1.5 bar dropping as the revs get to the top end.
A VF35 is a 340 bhp max turbo on 99 RON fuel.
An increase in boost and remap should add noticably to torque and BHP.
Remove the CAT and you get more power.
Your choice of headers and uppipe will depend on what turbo you are going for ultimately but the choice of the right headers and uppipe is critical to most efficient performance.
You need to decide whether you want to get the best out of what you have now or move on with a bigger turbo. It may be that sorting what you have now will result in a reasonble improvement that you are very happy with.
Finally, just check you are quoting estimated flywheel figures and not Power At Wheels figures.

Thanks for the reply harvey,
Yes ordinary 95 ron fuel in Ireland, I didnt want to be putting in octane booster or any of the e5 fuel sold in selected garages purely because I want the car to be a daily car and the least amount of hassle for me as regards fuel choice.
I am aware that is very low boost but I think maybe the mapper had concerns for the turbo as it ws passing a small amount oil from the compressor side and coming out of my 3 port boost solenoid, this is obviously burning in the engine also could lower the octane and raise knock levels, would this be correct?
We planned to run 1.4 bar on this turbo

Mapper informed me of a similar speced car running 4-5 degrees more ignition timing than my own.

Also sorry these are estimated flywheel figures
