Question Intercooler servicing?

Is there such a thing on our turbo Impreza's? someone was chatting about it saying "every few thousand miles it should be done!" I thought i best not butt in as i had the foggyest anyone heard or done this to their cars?? if so how you do it?? i thought only thing would be to check if there is an air leak

Dont think there is any official process. However whilst I had my intercooler off I cleaned out the fins and straightend up any bent ones. Quite surprising how many dead flies etc. get stuck in it.

You could take it off and gently heat it with a hair dryer or heat gun. I've done this on a few turbo cars you will be surprised how much oil runs out from inside. Other than that there is not a lot else you can do other than test for leaks and straighten bent fins as mentioned above.

When I changed engines we washed it out with very hot water before blowing loads of hot air through it and loads of oil came out.
