Better exhaust note
Hi I have a gb270 and would like it to make a more noticable (subaru)exhaust note. I have been told I would get a better sound if I removed one of the cats, the first one I think? I was also told that it would still pass the MOT emisions test is this true? An alternative would be to replace the back box with some thing like the Vortex afterburner but if pos I would rather not because the origonal is a prodrive exhaust?

If you want that 'Subaru' sounds I think the Backbox and centre pipe would be the first to go. The prodrive pipe is VERY quiet. Try an Afterburner, Blitz, Ninja or H&S backbox with a de-resonated centre pipe (if the GN270 doesn't have one already.)
If that's not enough then start looking at the Cats.

Ive had a few straight through non resonated centre sections and they are definetly louder but I found that at motorway speeds the drone was too much. I swapped the centre section for a H&S silenced centre section and the tone was alot deeper and sounded better with the offbeat tone being more pronounced and the drone greatly reduced on the motorway. Still roars when i boot it though
