Default faulty inlet temperature sensor....

can anyone shed any light on this. the management light has come on and its saying this.

is this something i need to replace pronto???? only seems to come on once ive driven somewhere and then stop, a slight engine note change and then the light comes on. and then goes off again....

anyone shed any light????

Not sure I'd like to run a car with a faulty IAT sensor. IIRC the ECU uses the temp to make a stab at air density so it can calculate the fuel needed for each charge.

That's my take on it but as usual I am probably wrong LOL

thanks for the reply. one being ordered 2mz....i think any engine management light cant be a good thing. didnt know what this sensor did.

Isn't the IAT alongside the MAF and you have to order them as a single unit ? Where are you going to order from as there are cheaper places than a stealer

What car is it? Most of the IAT sensors are incorporated into the maf to read mass air flow, but there are the odd sti and jdm imports that come with plenum or air box IAT seperate sensors.

yes, its a jdm blob......

would the map need a tweak after a new sensor fitted????
