When im driving along the can seems to accelerate better if i only put my foot down a small amount, if i put it down a good bit it doesn't seem to pick up any quicker.
Any thoughts ?

Got the same thing with me. But then again, my last car (200SX) was the same. If I floor it, I get some hesitation but if I use say 80% of my throtle, she'll fly.

edit~ What I normally do is feed the throtle slowly, till I end up flooring it. Can't really explain it in text though...

Is your car a turbo, I had the same problem with mine and turned out to be the dump valve leaking little. Under certain circumstances the valve will momentarily open a small amount on a fast transition from vacuum to boost as well. I cleaned the dump valve seat and face with carb cleaner spray. Great improvement.

Noticed the same thing in the Saxo. I think it's a mental thing, you feel your foot hit the floor and think you should be flying. At 100% throttle you probably are pulling harder than 80% unless there is something actually wrong with the engine.
