I have a 1998 impreza turbo 2000 uk, and for a while now i have had a hesitation when cruising at around 2300-3200 revs, the feeling when driving within that rev range feels like the car is pulsing the power, and it doesn't matter which gear you are in.

This model has a central coil pack bolted to the top of the manifold from where the four h.t leads come from. When you unplug each lead in turn from the coil pack 3 out of the 4 give a very strong spark, but 1 doesn't, it is a very weak intermittant spark unlike the other 3, could anyone please advise what could be the possible cause of this ?

swop the leads to check if one is damaged if the same lead is still weak it's the lead otherwise poss time for a new coilpack

 

is there any way of testing the coil pack ?
