Pros = Great launches and decent 0-60 times

Cons= Huge strain on gearbox,clutch,driveshafts,cv joints,propshaft.

Not worth it unless you are intending to go Drag racing.

if your going ppg route, is this in a 5 speed case? what sort of power are you looking at? for half the price of your ppg you could buy a 6 speed. granted much heavier but will take a lot more abuse. your half shafts and hubs will get a beating to. don't expect your 5 speed driveshaft to take big power, i snapped a rear one right in half. will let others confirm the good and bad of PPG gear sets. i would be investing in a decent ecu as well. simtec, motec or syvecs all have good launch control parameters. full throttle shift will also help the times.

I had launch control on my blobeye STI, and its ace takes off great however the synchros went in 3rd gear and also took a chunk out of one of the cogs after awhile so got box refurbed at API, all the parts got uprated and got uprated clutch and lightened flywheel at the same time and it was even better. However just part ex the car for a hatchback STI, but if i decided to take it santapod alot then i would get launch control for it again.

the ppg is in 5 speed casing - reason for ppg choice over 6 speed is better gear ratios for drag strip. i have heard horror storys about ppg gear sets however at present power figures will be remaining under 440hp, until i get on with new build engine. im lead to believe the shafts on the v5 type r are pretty good not like the weaker uk type, however i am no expert and can only go by advice etc. launch will only be used on the strip, i was also interested to know if any has had engine damage due to running ignition cut launch devices such as the omex and gizzmo?

not had any experience with gizzmo or omex. my launch control on motec with full thottle shift works great but it ain't cheap. you can launch away on the 5 speed shafts until failure, then retro fit the 6 speed hubs and half shafts like i did. i can tell you, they have taken some abuse in my car and never missed a beat.

sounds good, will keep my eye out for some, does the motec launch work using fuel cut or ignition cut?
