Default snapped bolts

Hi All

Ive managed to snap 2 bolt heads off and now dont know how to get them out. One is on the cross member and another is behind the bumber on the headlight bracket. Does any one have any magic ideas that get broken bolts out easy or is it a case of taking it to a garage?

Cheers

there's several ways of getting bolts out.. only yesterday I removed one off my land rover...again!!

1. drill it out and use a tap&die set to rethread it
2. drill a small hole and use a set of bolt extractors
3. weld a bolt on top of the snapped one and get it out

Now, if you are even asking about how to drill it out... I think its better if you take to a garage.

to drill it out, you just drill the bolt with a drill bit...
if you want to do option 1 above, imagine your bolt is 10mm, you drill right in the centre of the bolt and as straight as you can, with a small drill bit first, then go up to probably 8.5mm..... then use a 10mm tap to rethread

If you go with option 2, drill a small hole in the centre and use bolt extractors, the are like a drill bit but with a left hand thread, meaning it catches on the hole as you turn to the left

option 3.... you need a MIG welder and know how to weld
