As above I have a version 5 STI type r will I be able to run the car ok on the base map until I can get it mapped? It's always run on vpower, its running a 3 inch cat back exhaust, k&n panel filter and a walbro pump. Could I use the hand controller to monitor anything?

 

I would say no, let the mapper fit it, or fit it yourself just before it is mapped

No, the pfc has no knock control just a warning, leave it on the standard ecu, although with decat you should be driving it off boost imho as the map is fairly aggressive.
