Question Intercoolers???

So I am not sure whether there is any point in changing my intercooler or not and thought I would see if you lot could offer some advice.
Currently I have a standard bugeye wrx soon to have a full Prodrive exhaust including sports cat it has an upgraded panel filter already and once the exhaust is on will get a remap. Oh and it will have a GReddy blow off valve.

My question is that with the above parts should I keep the standard wrx intercooler and just change the pipes to silicone or should I fit either an STI intercooler off a blobeye or if it would fit a hawkeye standard or STI intercooler?

Is there any need to spend the money and change the intercooler or would a change of pipes be enough?

Any ideas/advice would be great cheers

Oh and to add to the above the GReddy bov i have doesnt have a flange/bracket to mount to the intercooler so I initially bought this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IMPREZA-WR...#ht_2119wt_907

But found that it was to thick being an inch which meant i couldnt fit the bov as it fouled on the inlet manifold
was thinking about trying this one instead

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IMPREZA-WR...#ht_2279wt_994

Or can anyone let me know of somewhere I can get one from?
Looked at GReddy themselves but they don't appear to do one

Hi mate. Your intercooler will be fine. A bigger sti one is not nesecery with the power you will be running. You'd be better spending your money on a fuel pump. As for the dumpvalve adaptor the second one looks like it should fit as it's angled slightly upwards to clear the inlet manifold

Cheers for the advice, I wont bother with a different intercooler then. Why a new fuel pump though?
I will try the different bov adapter and see how it works out. fingers crossed

When you have it remapped you will be around the 280 bhp give or take. Your standard fuel pump will be at best on it's limit. You will need a walbro 255 fuel pump(less than £100) also as your pump is probably knocking on 10 years old it's a worthwhile upgrade that will see you upwards of 400bhp when the modding bug really takes hold

Cheers for the explanation the age thing makes sense on its own i guess, will having the fuel pump upgraded increase power at all?
Also are they an easy job for a semi competent person such as myself to do instead of paying someone to do it for me? If so where is it located do you know? Hope its not like my 350z and in the actual fuel tank.

Yes, fuelpump in tank and very easy to change, back seats out, off side cover to remove then about ten nuts on top of the tank. Hardest part will be getting the fuel lines off the inlet/outlet pipes. Oh and don't forget to de pressurise the fuel system or you'll end up having a petrol shower lol.

Cool cheers for that, forgive me if this seems silly but how do you go about depressurising the fuel system?

Once you have removed the access cover to the sender unit just unplug the electical connector for the fuel pump. Fire the car up and it should cut out after around 10 seconds. Fuel pressure gone

on the standard td04 then as said stay with the same intercooler. as soon as you do a turbo switch then thats the time to go front mount, top mount is pointless if your replacing the turbo.

No m8, changing the pump alone doesnt increase power, but as your bhp goes up the more fuel your motor will need, hence the bigger pump.

Beware, its a slipery slidey slope your on, today 280, 2morrow 320, nxt month 400, i know mate, im at nxt month... oh and so does my credit card, it keeps screaming every time i open my wallet....

Ah cool I didn't think it would give me more power but wasn't completely sure.

I am sure at some point I am likely to want more power for now though I think I will just go for a mild increase in power

Couldn't agree more. When I got my Wrx ppp 265 was pleanty and I was keeping it standard. 3 months later I had 340 bhp. 18 months down the line I have an sti that's on it's way to 500 bhp. That first 80 hp is the cheepest and biggest power hike your gonna get. Keep on modding and don't forget when the wife asks, all parts are 200 quid lol. If only they knew eh!!!

Argh you had to go and say that didn't you, I was quite content with the idea of just upping the power a little thought that will do me for now, then you had to say you had some parts for sale at a decent price. I haven't even put my new parts on yet and you already have me contemplating if I could afford a few other bits.
