And if so how can I mod it to 300bhp ? I have been told injectors and turbo but which ones ? Any advise or pointers very helpful ... Cheers

Hi Mitch I have 2001 BUG WRX which I am tuning at the moment and those are the sort of figures i am after. I have a prodrive decat, TSL exaust system, green panel filter ,walbro fuel pump, ecutek remap, I made 268bhp approx. I have just purchased pink 550 injectors(sti), sti up-pipe, 3 port boost valve from Harvey on scoobynet, and looking into various turbos vf34/ 35 or td05. These are your best options in my opinion and of course a remap. I did not want to go down the route of forging my engine at this time. These upgrades should easily see 300bhp, but the torque figure I feel is ,more important. It is this figure you use for everyday driving, but as long as you get a decent mapper they will sort this out for you. Hope this helps

Hi there

At first Welcome here.

Second if its UK WRX this will sound right, but this car has been mapped for these mods?
If not i would advise to you Remap or Drive off the boost until remap. For remap i would recommend Neil@Slowboy Racing,Rich@FB Tuning,Duncan@Race Dynamix,Graham@EngineMapper these guys charging for remap from £225-£350 and for these money your car will be mapped to 270-280bhp.

Third if you want go for bigger turbo i would recommend VF34,VF35 or VF43(i assume you have 2.5L),STi pink injectors and 3-port boost solenoid,05 WRX probably don't have Catted up pipe,if you have contact here Harvey for proven Up pipe, which will bring spool to lower RPM and plus remap/tweak and you should have around 330-350bhp

it wont be a 2.5 if it is a blobeye Jura - it will have a cat in the uppipe.

To answer the OP, it is extremely unlikely you will get to 300bhp on the std td04 turbo although have seen a couple very very close to that but they are rare and normally 280-290bhp for a blob wrx is the max if fully decated (uppipe included)

Realistically to get over 300 you will need to change the turbo and there are so many options on this, everyone will have their own favourites skewed perhaps by what they have but most are good enough to get you over the magic 300 mark.

However, you may find that a decent remap will provide the type of driving feel you are after without going to the hassle or expense of changing turbo, injectors etc and introducing an element of lag.

Take your car on nearest Rolling Road for dyno check and after this you will know how much bhp you have for sure.

If you will have still 250bhp,i would suspect you are still running just unmapped ad i would suggest Remap just for piece of mind and some power too.
