Default Overheating problems

Hi,
Need some advice on a subaru impreza wrx '93, over heats when sitting still or driving slow in traffic and cold air comes through the heaters but when driven at over 2500rpm heaters get warm and engine cools down.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Many thanks

Can you run the scoob without the stat? my other half said he mite take the stat out completely and run some flush thru it.
we did try burping it but failed so should we try jacking it up at the front and try burping it again? the guy also replaced the stat with a high rated stat
