Default Separator In Downpipe?

Has anyone ever seen a piece of metal in the mouth of a downpipe at the turbo end? It looks like it is meant to be some kind of separator?

Yeah, my Prodrive sportcat had one on, I ground it off to fit the TD04 I had at the time. I think they call the setup a twin dump(?).

Thanks. Just spotted a DP with one on it did not have a clue what it was for. I'm guessing it can impede fitting then?

it can cause issues if is designed for sti vf35 as ppp downpipe if fitting to td04 it can prevent gasket seating correctly on my old wrx i used 2 gaskets to get enough clearance so it sealed maybe not best but it worked and saved modding downpipe so when i sold it it was still ok for sti

Hi there if you have Prodrive Sport cat is still good and still have better flow like cat in OE Downpipes.

If you are looking get your car remapped in near future,Sport cat will pass MOT and decated DP will not pass MOT,difference in power is somewhere/sometimes 5-10bhp at TOP,sometimes difference is 0bhp

Thanks Jura, good advice as usual

At the minute the standard cats are in place. I have an H&S 2nd decat pipe to fit and plan on a full decat as the MOT won't be a problem

Ok if you have plan go decated route, would suggest also get mapped later properly and hopefully you will see around 330-340bhp

Dave_garrett has a downpipe for sale, which made 430+ bhp......he's selling it cheaply too. Give him a PM.
