Knocking
I seem to have developed a knock from the front N/S, now i recently changed all the bushes to poly bushes, got a steering rack bush kit and got an ALK, so i don't believe it to be the bushes.
I also got the Whiteline Roll-centre/Bump-steer Adjust Kit so don't think it would be the ball joints, but in saying that from day one there was always a knock from the front N/S that i sometimes noticed mainly from when on full lock.
What i've noticed is that i can get it to knock by doing two things.
1. Driving along and letting my foot of the accelerator then tapping the accelerator pedal for a quick burst of power and then letting off.
2. Having the car not moving, putting it in reverse going back, braking to a stop and then putting it in gear and driving forwards.
Putting the steering on full lock either way makes the knock noticeable when doing the above on the reversing bit.
It seems to be mainly when applying power quickly, off the top of my head i can't remember it doing it when hitting bumps and so on.
I'm going to get it on the ramp soon as possible and check for play in the bushes and ball joints and run it while on the ramp and listen out, but other than this any ideas anyone?
Gearbox, clutch, drive shaft?
Thanks

Got it on a ramp today and couldn't find nothing
I noticed that where both drive shafts sit in the gearbox there is a bit of play but i don't believe this is the issue otherwise both sides would be knocking, the CV joints wern't noticeably knocking either.
Guess until it breaks i won't know lol.
Thanks

Just a quicky my old ladys impreza had a similar sort of knock, traced this back to the g/box mount.
I had been told that they go a little soggy with age and the g/box can bang against the tunnel when rolling on and off the throttle
Bought a uprated one of flebay around £75.
