Prodrive backbx on MY01
#1
I have a WRS Prodrive blackbox connected to Scoobysport decat centre section and Scoobysport decat downpipe, but I feel the backbox is hold back the noise and the extra grunt. Although I do feel some more power through the rev range. I hopefully will heve the uppipe fitted this week. Is it time to change the back box to a Scoobysport or something else! All i want is the odd flame or five and a bit of poppin from the zorst.
Thanks for your comments.

VKL in a word, yes . The Prodrive WR box is a nice bit of kit, if a little pricey. I did have one fitted to my car, but I've now got a full SS system - the noise alone makes it worth while
I doubt you will see a huge improvement, but I think most people would consider the SS to be less restrictive than the Prodrive box.

Is the WRS backbox the one that you have when they stick the PPP on ?
Mines very loud with the full ScoobSport decat, thought it was too loud at first but kinda got used to it.
I'm thinking of changing it, if someone out there has done the same I would like to know if its worthwhile, maybe something a bit deeper and less raspy.

Just re-read this thread - you might be right about the PPP backbox, which is different to the normal Prodrive box sold through the dealers. I was assuming it was the latter. If it is the Prodrive PPP bb then there would less difference. It would probably come down to whether you wanted a slightly deeper exhaust note. And as Stu said, if Brun did decide to swap them, he'd have no problem selling the old one.
Cheers

VKL,
You could just to be different have a TSL back box. I got one for my MY01 WRX and they sound the mutts nutts ) )
The build quality, also IMHO, is far better and you get a lifetime guarentee. Had a SS back box before and i much prefer the TSL.

IMHO I really don't think that you'll notice a difference in performance but just in noise, as Chris says.
I think that the performance increase that you are hoping to feel, will not be gained by trying anymore exhaust components (apart from an Up pipe or new manifold - these may give you CEL problems anyway), you will just be wasting money.
At this point and depending on what you have done already, you should be considering an STI7 or commit yourself to large amounts of cash on FMIC and ECU's/hybrid turbos.
