Default Problems fitting panel filter???

Hello.

I can't seem to fit a brand new green cotton filter to my99, in the instructions it says you may have to cut the lugs off except the centralising ones, I have never heard of this, can any body shed any light on this?

Cheers

Never heard of having to cut anything, but i had murder with my Sumo Power/Do-luck panel filter in my P1. the air box didnt seem to fit back into place so eventually i took the whole thing off, stuffed the filter in and fitted everything back to the car.

It was a nightmare as the filter seemed to big. but with a bit of persistence it fit snug.

So you have to cut the centralised lugs as well, weird everyone says go for a green cotton or decent panel filter but never heard of having to cut it about!!!

Did you see any performance gain from the filter?

Never had to cut any part to fit a panel filter on any of our imprezas.. My ITG panel slotted straight in on the classic after a bit of a struggle to split the air box open! k and n went straight in on the newage too..

The ITG panel came straight back out after 2 months though as it killed my MAF!!!

it was heavily oiled, big mistake on my part as it cost me 350pounds for a new MAF

stuck to a standard sti panel filter which is great, the k&n seems to be fine and i've heard the green cotton filter doesn't cause any damage either..
