Default Spongy brakes

Since owning my facelift classic ive always felt the brakes are a bit spongy compared to my last car. Nowhere near as sharp. Been told its quite normal for classics but is there anything i can do bar spending ££££ on brake upgrades? It does have subaru 4 pots on the front now.

Try a fluid change to start with.

Total change the fluid and replace with DOT 5.1.
Could try changing the pads to a fast road set as they should be a slightly harder compound.

Just a thought if your going to change the fluid it would be a good time to do braided hoses, but theres more cost involved, I think there about £100 a set
