Default Knocking Noise after long drive?

I will try to explain this noise, I have a classic turbo uk 2000 wagon.

I have been to Farnborough this weekend and I have had a sort of knocking sound after over an hours drive on the motor way (normal speeds 70-80) but only when I come off the motorway and while accelerating and decelerating.

I tried breaking with it in gear, and in neutral. Knocking only in gear, also when the clutch is brought up there was a knocking.

The sound seems like it's coming from the rear door card (can only assume it's the rear offside wheel)

I suspect it could be something to do with the rear offside driveshaft?

Wonder if anyone else has had the same or some advice as to what to look for?

I have experience this once before and thought it was the front wheel bearing but did not find anything.

I have not heard this noise while I do short runs, or to and from work.

Help please any advice welcome.

Thanks

definetly check driveshaft mate, may be the case of cv gator has split a while back and caused the driveshaft to dry up and start knocking
