Is it possible to rethread a screw from 1/8" NPT to 1/8" BSPT and if so, is it easy to do or better to take it somewhere that can do it for you?
If possible, how reliable would it be (quality wise), could I do it myself (with the right tools), or does anyone have any recommendations in the Notts area that could do it for me?
Reason being, I bought some thread adaptors for my gauge senders from Think Auto, but the senders themselves are too long and they hit the bottom of the adaptor before the threads meet. Never thought to check when I ordered online
Other options are to chop about 1/4" off the end of each sender (not sure if I can do this anyway), or order some new longer adaptors.
Re-threading seems the cheaper option if possible. I know the 1/8" NPT are tapered whereas the 1/8" BSPT are straight. There should be more metal on the NPT so in theory should be possible?
Cheers

Don't try recutting the thread, it will wreck it!
They are totally different - the BSPT has 55 degree included angle thread, rounded crest and root radius, but most importantly the 1/8 National Pipe Taper is 27 threads per inch and the British Standard Pipe Taper is 28 threads per inch.

Thanks Dave (is there an echo in here )
Looks like I'm getting some new adaptors then
I've emailed Think Auto to see if I can get some custom ones made....just waiting on the reply now.
Thanks for the warnings guys
