Default New project

Hi,

I am currently the owner of a WR1, and I love it. However, I want more power, and I don't want to ruin the WR1 by modding it.

So I am possibly planning to get rid of her and get something else as my project.

I would like the new car to be a blobeye, as I am really keen on the shape. The plan is for full internals rebuild, bigger turbo, full exhaust, FMIC, etc etc. And I will be aiming for 450ish bhp.

The thing I am stuck on is whether to buy a WRX or an STI. I can pick up a WRX for about £1500 less than an STI, which will mean more cash for modding. however, am I best off using an STI as a base, or will it not matter as I plan for full rebuild? I heard things like the six speed box are much tougher compared with the 5 speed?

Any help is appreciated!!

Cheers

definitely buy the blobeye sti mate as it comes with a 6 speed box instead of the weaker wrx 5 speed, comes with brembo brakes all round rather than the crappy wrx ones, engine is way stronger as standard, nicer seats, and the stuff that you don't need,i.e turbo, sti top mount intercooler, you can sell to fund your build.

would be even better if you could get a 2005 onwards blobeye, as it is worth more, has wider rear track, bigger hubs, nicer dashboard and dccd, which allows you to throw the power from back to front etc, basically quite a few extras.

thats great, thanks Tazz. been following PH recently, and been looking at the JDM models. Maybe it's worth going with one of them? I have heard the internals are a lot stronger - anyone know if they will handle 450ish bhp on standard internals? if so, it may be worth the extra cash to just go JDM, instead of looking to full engine rebuild on a UK. plus, Twinscroll looks attractive...
