Default Help!!!

Hello.

I have my subaru 2 weeks & it has been a complete ballache, new abs pump, new brakes needed, got it fully serviced with a complete cambelt kit & some millers 10/50 & ngk iridiums.

Happy for a week or so then on the motorway yesterday about 80 mph its starts stuttering bad under load, managed to limp home feeling like it was running on 2 cylinders.

Checks so far, good spark to all plug's, no cel, no4 plug very wet & smelling of petrol, tried a different plug & it ran the same, no mods apart from back box but the day before removed the bolt on bailey dump valve & when I first got it took the hks mushroom off, I run sainsburys SUL. Engine rocking from side to side badly & running very lumpy. Car was on a diagnostic the night before & nothing untoward showed up.

Is there anything I have done to make this happen, all boost pipes are solid but the one that runs under the inlet was split, it was replaced last week. I have not been compression tested & dont want to drive it, had a subaru mechanic do the checks & dropped/broken valve in piston 4 was the diagnoses.

Any other ideas???

Thanks in advance!!!

Pull number 4 plug lead off and start it up, does it sound the same or worse?

Sounds the same & tried it with a known working different plug, very wet with fuel? Spark is definately strong so not a coil pack, ht lead issue.

With the plug out, try turning the engine over by hand, see if you can feel any compression on that cylinder.
Or just get it compression checked with a gauge, depends how urgent you need to know where the problem lies :]

If it was me, just to put my mind at ease, i would forget about the plug getting wet for a moment, and double check all your boost hoses, especially the one you just changed. If it was the turbo to intercooler hose, it will pretty much give the symptoms you are describing while driving.

I will have a look in the daylight, feels fine by hand though, will try to get the compression checked, I want to know pretty urgent how much I am in for!!! It as the air intake hose that runs under the inlet manifold, I didnt fit it a subaru mechanic did, think it goes from the airbox to the turbo?

Ok that hose wouldn't cause it. A compression check will certainly either show up or rule out a valve problem anyway.

Compression test I think is the way forward, hopefully it will not be too much damage
