Default Oil catch can

I am going to fit an oil catch can to my scooby and was wondering why most of the threads I have searched say use a 3 port catch can? Surely a 2 port catch can is good enough if the two outlets from the valve covers are joined together?

Even the oil catch can that Scoobyworld sell is a 2 port catch can!
