i recently bought a classic impreza from my bro he said its a wrx its a 1996 model on the boot lid it says wrx sti but on the log book it says sti wr1 i done a hpi check it also says sti wr1 also insurance says wrx sti wr1 it has red shock absorbers and sti seats the combined code under bonnet is gc8c4ed what does all this mean? is it a wrx? i bought it very cheaply as it came from my bro and he no longer used it its in mint condition im just wondering what kind of scooby i have bought

 

Put some photos on of the car and engine bay and hopefully we'll be able to help you further. I think the wr1 wasn't released until 2003/4.

A lot of imprezas either wrx or sti were imported as GL's.

Look for a specialist insurance company like

SKY
Keith Michaels etc

They should be able to quote you for what you're actually driving and not what is says on the log book.
