Default Gearbox question

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if a Classic STi gearbox will fit in a UK2000 Impreza?

And is there anything I would need to know....

Cheers.

I think it's do-able so long as you get the rear diff too.

Thanks guys,

It is not actually for me as I have sold my Subaru, It is for a colleague at work.
He has managed to knacker 3rd gear and wants to put an STi gearbox in, personally I would have thought it best to rebuild the standard box with better internals.

The STi box has better gear ratios i think, so will accelerate quicker but loose out in 5th.
I have a UK and i am fitting the box from an import, the UK boxes have long gear ratios.
