Default What MPG do you get

Hi Guy's i am currently getting about 18mpg out of my 2002 bugeye 200 miles from a tank, what returns does yours give?

I am running a cat back stainless exhaust with up pipe de-cat, air filter and re-map. and i drive very steadily not above 2.5-3k before gear changes with the odd blast off from the lights, but some times i swear i can see the fuel gauge dropping.

35mpg on the motorway driving at 65-70mph,
30mpg motorway driving at fast rate, 80mph and harder acceleration,
21mpg town
16mpg when it was rush hour town driving.
Hawkeye RS, 160bhp.

Ive seen 420miles from a tank (its actually a little larger than 50litres)

Thats city driving and bypass stuff, 70-80 mph etc with a blat or 2 when needle was reading low LOL

Would it matter if you had half a tank over a full tank? Thats around 25litres of fuel less to carry.

I would say that was good..... if you were running 550bhp! That's what I had on average with a 2.5ltr running that kind of power.... and that certainly was not driving it as sedately as you are suggesting. On a Spec C 50ltr tank it was doing circa 200miles per tank.

I've had 25.6 mpg over the last 18,000 miles in my 2006 WRX. That's mixed A class, dual and town driving.

I've noticed that the tank is bigger than 50 litres too - I often put in more than 50 litres - the most in one go being 54.9 litres.

Does anyone know whether the orange light comes on at exactly the same point each time you get low? I ask as I usually brim the tank and then fill back up to work out the MPG. If I could use the orange light as a measure then I wouldnt need to drive around with a full tank all the time.

The orange light is based on the "float needle" on the pump in the tank. It should be triggered at the same level everytime, unless you have had the pump out and disturbed or bent the float mechanism.

If I remember rightly it comes on when 8 litres are left - I think it's in the handbook.

I fill up so often that filling a half tank just to save carrying an extra 20 kilos around is not something I will be doing.

Why does it have to be so black and white? i enjoy driving and dont want a small engined car or diesel. Doesnt mean that I dont care about the amount of money I spend on filling it up or that I have money to burn.

Uk turbo 2000 before remap got 28-30 mpg(238 bhp) driving to bob rawles house(85 miles),never used a 1/4 tank
After remap and filling up on the way home(324 bhp),and a blast down the M40(130 miles) 16 -18 mpg.
Track day will see you hitting 8 -10 mpg depending on bhp ,normal day to day driving i normally get between 20 - 24 .
Incidentally i also have a honda civic, which i filled the tank up last week and it cost me £54.00 and tonight it is just below the half and has covered 302 miles.

i have just done 285.2miles on a just short of full tank, havent worked out the mpg though.

Can you get a switch to change between maps? i.e. eco with 238bhp and a second at the flick of a switch with the 324bhp?

Im sure I have heard that this can be done, it would be a very good idea as most of the time I hardly ever go past 4000revs but when the occasion arrises and I use the full rev range I would love to have more BHP to hand. (I know its kind of irrelevant on my car though)

STi 5 @ 342bhp.

Mixed driving (but not too many hoons ) = anything between c.200-240miles on c.47 litres = 19.3 to 23.2 mpg.

I am not bothered as long as the car puts a smile on my face, but I was expecting more than 18mpg, I am more bothered if there was somthing wrong with the car.

Get around 180-200 miles to a tank in my 05 STI with pump, decat, full system and remap running around 340-350bhp.

My RB5 does around 200 to a tank also, running loads of mods, aftermarket ecu, injectors, headers etc.

As said above, if you're looking fuel economy from one of these cars, you have bought the wrong car lol....i have a £450 Toyota Carina E for my fuel economy

I think I must have a problem with my my95 wrx, full tank of about 50 pounds is only returning about 160 til 170 miles.

moss are k&n panel filter and a 2.5inch exhaust with a decay.
Any ideas what it is likely to be?

I am getting quite a lot of pops and bangs from the exhaust, with the odd flame

Test MAF and Lambda as a first port of call.

Before that though, run a ECU diagnostics check/reset using the connectors under the steering column (see the "ECU" section of Scoobypedia for details...)

£50 gets a lot less than it used to, but mpg is very hit and miss even with the same car 2 different people can vary by a lot, depends on driving style, type and length of journey etc, but my jdm sti averages about 20-22mpg, which with only a 4 mile commute I think is pretty good, my old fiesta xr2i only did about 26-28mpg under similar conditions.

uk2000 turbo, before and after remap are the same ( 200-210 miles out of a tank), soon after replaced the O2 sensor, now is more than 230miles / tank everytime. ( mainly to and from work, only town driving).

How much are Maf,O2/Lambda sensors and can they be checked with diagnostic equipment?
Also what are the life expectancy of these?
