Mate. If yours is a UK Turbo 2000, its not a WRX. Classic WRX were JDM only.
I'm not trying to be clever...just don't want you ordering non compatible parts.
Are you changing all belts and pulleys?

Gates belts are very good, that's all I use. Best to change all pulleys and idlers if you have just got the car and don't know service history. Gates do a full kit for timming. You will have change from 200 I think but don't hold me to that. Gen subaru stuff also very good but pay thru the nose for same quality as gates. Filters I use gen Subaru. Oil depends on tune of car. Don't skimp on it that's all I can say. Pm me if you need anymore info

The WRX was introduced as the Impreza GT (Europe), Turbo 2000(UK)....it should be the same car, with just a different names. Same as the hondas called the "SiR" in Japan and the "VTi" in Europe. Here its something interesting, my vin № says my car is a GT, but its turbo2000 uk in all my papers. Actually it IS a WRX mate. It has the WRX engine, the WRX turbo, the WRX steering wheel etc

I want to change them all, i got the car recently and the pulleys are all rusty , the belts has worn out. Whats up about those lightweight pulleys? Are they better ???

Your car is (looking at it in members gallery) probably an eu derived car, ordered rhd to be brought to the uk via holland or something (hence the GT vin and uk history). I had one of these, it's essentially the same as a uk car. Quite a few people bought GT cars into the UK back in 99/00 as it was a fair bit cheaper than the inflated prices the uk cars were. One good thing about this was the GT cars were available in sonic blue, which the uk never got.

It's not a wrx, so order parts based on a uk 2000 turbo or gt, not wrx. The fact someone has put uk wrx wheels doesn't make it a wrx. Also, a newage uk wrx would have the same turbo as the your car anyway (td04).

It may well be that someone has put a newage wrx engine in too, but regarding Service parts (oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, belts, spark plugs-pfr6b) it'll all be the same anyway.

Might be worth getting your maf sensor checked too mate, they are prone to failing on the 99/00 turbos. Amazing what a new maf, all the service items and an ecu reset will do.

Yesterday i got my maf, map and oxygen sensors checked. my car has only 1 lambda though...
The guy from the garage told me its all ok, everything is working, he attached my car to some wires and tested everything. but he said it would be better if i change the maf sensor anyway. do you have any links from websites ?

In that case, your car is a WRX, not a Uk Turbo 2000 AWD. It can't be both

Yeah that's a MY99 UK Turbo 2000 AWD code.

In effect, hardware-wise, it is in essence the same as a WRX's for the same MY*... But the ECU's map is designed to control max boost to a lower level, thus limiting power to 218PS (215 bhp) and 214lb ft.

*The equivalent MY99 WRX JDM car would have had a VF29 turbo and c.1.03bar running 280PS (276bhp) though...

I see now, i went to a special mechanic who is the most expirienced in the whole country and he knows his job. He told me the ecu of my car would be very difficult to remap. maybe its the same reason your talking about. but he would push it for about 320hp. cant i use a standalone ecu like an aem, greddy for the turbo 2000 uk 99?

He doesn't know his Subarus as well as he thinks.... The MY99/00 ones are remappable by EcuTeK s/w. About £650 inc. 1st licence. I think the UK's cam and crank sensor pinouts have to be swapped around and some other pinout, but it's no big deal.

Get JGM to map it - he can travel out to most of Europe...

Pre-remap mods:-

Walbro 255 fuel pump
Decent well known make of panel filter (K&N, Green, etc.)
Fresh NGK PFR7B plugs
Fresh fuel filter
Decat bellmouth d/p + decent system

After remap this should get you c.280bhp - at the limit of the TD04L.

But if you were to also change turbo to a straight swap VF28/29/30/35, etc., then you'd see about 330bhp (the practical combined limits of your TMIC and 440cc injectors)...

The hardware's already inside your exisitng ECU. The mapper works his magic on it by plugging it into the EcuTeK software on his laptop. He then maps the car via said s/w and uploads the final BESPOKE map to reflash over the top and replace the factory one.

Use only genuine Subaru service items.

Unless your existing HT leads/coilpack are breaking down, I wouldn't bother replacing.

Wouldn't bother with pulleys - OEM ones not broke, so leave well alone IMHO. But if you must, RCMS ones look the part and save some weight/inertia...

Ok then i will get oem parts. I hear a squeaking sound when i start the engine. Is that from the belt or from the pulleys? The pulleys are all rusty

Re the squeak, prob the alternator belt too loose.

Rusty pulleys tend to be the norm after a few years. So long as they don't have rust on the belt tracks, they'll be okay. What about wire brushing any superficial surface rust, cure it, then rattle-can them with satin or gloss black?
