Hi Guy's,

I'm at a loss with a small problem with my MY96 STI.

Not everytime this happens but more often when the atmosphere temp is very cold or when its raining this happens which could be a damp issue.

From a cold start, the car will rev to about 1500rpm as per the norm, give it 20 sec's and it will start to miss and the rev's will drop and cut out, to get round this, I need to keep my foot on the throttle at about 1750rpm until the water temp gauge reads qtr or possibly half way sometimes.

Once I reach a certain water temp, the car runs sweet as a nut and experience's no further problems.

Fuel economy is fine, water temp runs fine, oil temp runs fine, oil pressure is per the norm.

I've changed the following so far :

NEW NGK 6b's
New water temp sensor under the manifold - The awkard one
Idle control valve, stripped and cleaned
Air Filter housing, stripped and cleaned.
MAF sensor gently cleaned with some carb cleaner

Besides these jobs, I dont know what else to check.

Any idea's of what could cause this and what can be done to fix it ?

Any help or idea's would be most appreciated.

Seconded, weak spark can come from the coilpacks themseves. Is it individual coil pack or ignition coil & HT lead setup you are running?

I have an ignition coil if you need one.
