Default loss of power

Story is on my way into work today on dual carrage way doing 60mph and had sudden loss of power engine was still running no lights came on the dash. Pulled over didn't turn engine off or anything put my foot on acceleranter and all was fine again?

I have a new maf sensor on order as i had a problem the other day where when putting my foot down felt like i was takin my foot on and of the accelarater which ended up being the maf sensor. Will this have anything to do with it?

Car is x reg 2000 turbo impreza wagon.

A mate of mine in his Festa RS Turbo booted it from mine and then it lost power, ran ok, no smoke but seemed massivly sluggish, looked at his boost guage to see if it was boosting when revved and no it wasnt, turned out all that was wrong was it blew an intercooler pipe of, jubileed it back on and away he went could this be your problem??
