Hi,

my 54 plate STi has just had its 6 year service at subaru dealer

since there has been a funny smell every now and again when starting or sitting in traffice

only way to describe it is like burning rubber

very noticeable in the car but goes fast when it starts moving

have contacted dealer who seemed slightly disinterested but have agreed to take it back in for a look

anyone got any ideas what this could be ?

I would wait til monday and review from there.

Burning rubber does not sound good though..

Reason i say wait is that depending on service some excess oil or collant etc may be on certain parts and will disappear after a day or two.

 

yes the coolant was changed

it seems to be fading / occuring less frequently

still take it in on monday for a look

 

Was the front diff oil changed?
I had a service where they spilt oil down the back of the block when they filled it and it smelt a bit like that.
