A stupid question, as I probobly know the answer here but just to clarify...

Just bought a Classic WRX STi V4. Was told it was standard other than a backbox and air filter and some alloys.

Fitted a Blitz turbo timer and it has a max boost readout on it - Its saying the car is maxing out at 1.34 bar (19.5psi). but is this just a boost spike?

Standard boost for my car (using the IHI VF23) i believe to be more like 1 bar (14.5psi).

No CEL light on or anything, No problems (yet), car seems fine for the 3 weeks ive had it.

Am I going to have big problems if it hasnt been mapped? Any easy (and preferably cheap) way of telling if it has??

Without sticking it on the rollers and it costing me lots.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi. Does your car have a boost gauge fitted ? If not, fit one ! Easiest way to check and control your boost.

IMHO 1,34 Bar it's well to high for standard engine. You can also open your ECU and you'll be able to see if it was mapped or not. It is underneath the carpet of passenger foot rest. Hope this help.

Do you think this could just be a spike then?

as it always happens every time i boost it.

well if it has a different chip in there then its been chipped yes. The problem with generic chips though is they are not "custom" to the mods and mileage of your specific engine.

I think I just need to get a guage on mine to check what its boosting to.

I dont think 19 psi is too much for a standard STi engine surely? They have forged internals?

I've got V2 Sti and standard boost of these is 0.9 bar but mine has been chipped to 1.1 Bar. That's why I doubt if yours is 1,34 bar standard. I've never heard about 1,34 bar on standard engine. Also heard that Mines chips are mapped for 100 RON patrol, so not really good to use in this Country. Best option for you will be to give a call to JollyGreenMonster and speak to Simon. He'll explain you everything and answer to all your questions.

From doing a bit of internet research it sounds like mines set to spike at around 19psi and then hold 14/15 psi and tail off as it approaches the limiter.

Can anyone confirm that is in fact how Subarus work?

Sorry for any newb questions but im new to scoobys.
Cheers.
