Default V5 sti question

Just a quick one my mate has just bought a v5 sti but its spluttery up to 3000rpm till the turbo comes on song and its fine any ideas??

could have an O2 sensor problem as it uses that till it goes into open loop mode (which is around 3k (then relys on maf) depending on load and throttle position

Well it seems ok on tick over but as soon as you get going then it splutters , so would you say MAF?

both them are common faults, especially the maf, both these can fail without throwing fualt codes, best way is to either by new ones (can be costly), or borrow off another car and try, or take it to a subaru mechanic so he can chuck it on a machine.

Where do you want to start
Best thing is to go to a speciallist, also look at the fuel used and any mods (neither listed)

Runs on optimax and only mod is a exhaust apart from that totaly stock.

Will get him to try suggestions above and see if that helps
