Default 18" wheels on a classic

I hope 2 do a couple of rounds of time attack with my 97 wagon & would really like 356mm brakes on the front, so is it wise to run 18" wheels on the classic or should I go 17"s with 330mm set up. Aiming for around the 600bhp mark

Lots of people say that 18" wheels on a classic is a step too far. You lose the handling because the sidewalls are too stiff? Plus it's incedibly harsh.

Prodrive used to advise no more than 17" wheels as an optimum.

There are, of course, loads of folk who HAVE 18" wheels, and love them............
